In a town filled with artists and art-like natural surroundings, the Folk Art Center of the Southern Highland Craft Guild provides a great facility in which to explore both of these key town features. Three galleries contain exhibitions of works by local craftspeople while the permanent collection holds an assortment of some of the best craft work to come out of the Appalachia area. Throughout the months of spring, summer and fall, the center is also a wonderful place at which to see artisans about their work with daily craft demonstrations as well as special arts education programs. The center sits east of town along Blue Ridge Parkway, making it an easy stop for town visitors and passersby alike.
